My teaching interests span across all fields: painting, sculpture, installation, performance, video and photography. It is the latter that I have most specialism in having done a PhD in photography theory completed in 2013.
I have published writing on performance art, conceptual art and photography. I have also written extensively on photography and philosophy, but my publishing in this field is more limited.
I have recently been teaching discursively by doing seminars with year 3 Fine Art students at UEL in which we studied certain philosophers including Descartes, Kant and Hegel. I am very interested in how historically philosophy has become increasingly important to art and artists. If you felt it useful I could introduce this topic.
I tend to prefer group teaching – like seminars, but I do one to one tutorials and find I enjoy them also.
I studied at various art schools: Chelsea School of Art BA, Slade MA, Goldsmith’s MA. I live in Bethnal Green London. I have been involved in teaching for 30 years. I have taught at many art schools. I left Bath Spa University where I had taught for 25 years last year. I am currently teaching at UEL.
